This focus group will explore the intersection between art therapy and positive psychology, the study of positive character traits and well-being; of positive emotions; and of institutions that support research into wellness, positive experience, resilience, and strengths in individuals and communities (Peterson 2000, Peterson & Seligman 2004, Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi 2000).
We will discuss development and current trends in positive psychology and examine how these principles and practices are being incorporated by art therapists.
1) Participants will be able to list 3 characteristics of Positive Psychology.
2) Participants will be able to list 3 connections/correlations between the fields of Positive Psychology and Art Therapy.
3) Participants will be able to identify 3 strategies for integrating Positive Psychology and Art Therapy in their practice.
