Now on this longest day, light triumphs,
and yet begins the decline into the dark.
(The Spiral Dance, HarperCollins, 1999, p. 205)
In this workshop, we will use altered books, an art form where old books are recycled into new works of art, to reflect upon the meaning of this time of transition and mindfully reflect upon where we have come from, where we are at this moment, and what we wish to create as we move forward.
Designed for people struggling with severe illness and grief, and for providers working with clients with illness and loss.
All materials will be provided (a selection of books to alter will be available. If you have a book that you are already in the process of altering, you are welcome to bring it).
Objectives 1) Attendees will be able to list three ways that altering books can be used to explore therapeutic concerns.
Objectives 2) Attendees will be able to engage in three techniques in the altered book process.
Objectives 3) Attendees will be able to explore three ways to apply what they’ve learned about altered books to their personal and professional lives.
(4.5 CEC’s available $15 administrative fee*)
